Chelsea dominated Leicester on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge Saturday. Here are all the highlights.
Chelsea started quickly against defending champions Leicester, dominating possession early on and taking the lead inside 10 minutes through Diego Costa. The forward was left totally unmarked on an Eden Hazard corner and finished easily past Kasper Schmeichel at the back post.

The Blues continued to dominate from there on out. Leicester were barely able to get a touch of the ball, let alone create any chances. Their best fell to Jamie Vardy, but he couldn’t connect under heavy pressure in the box, and Chelsea doubled their lead shortly after.
Costa was the provider this time, his flick-on finding Eden Hazard (thanks to a bit of luck) clean through on goal. Hazard rounded the keeper before finishing.

Leicester improved after halftime, shifting to 3-4-3 to counter Chelsea’s own 3-4-3. But the closest they came to getting a goal back was when David Luiz deflected a cross onto his own post. The Blues eventually scored a third when Victor Moses combined with Nathaniel Chalobah before finishing past Schemichel. It was an excellent goal to cap off an excellent Chelsea performance.

The win moves Chelsea onto 16 points, level with Arsenal and Liverpool with a game in hand. Manager Antonio Conte seems to have gotten his team back on track after consecutive losses to Liverpool and Arsenal at the end of September. Part of that has been the transition to 3-4-3, which has brought some much needed defensive stability, while giving the likes of Costa and Hazard plenty of freedom in attack.

Leicester, meanwhile, continue to struggle, especially in Champions League weeks. Claudio Ranieri rested Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez from the start, presumably with an eye on the Foxes’ match against FC Copenhagen in the week, and the team suffered as a result.
Leicester are stuck on eight points from seven games — that’s mid-table form, but if the Foxes aren’t careful, they could be drawn into the fringes of the relegation battle. Prioritizing the Champions League is understandable, but at a certain point Ranieri must find away to improve his side’s league performances.
