Here’s what we learned from the Seattle Seahawks escaping with a win against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Seattle Seahawks escaped the Atlanta Falcons at home with a victory on Sunday. A big turnover from Atlanta and missed call on Richard Sherman would be all it would take for the Seahawks to avoid a major collapse.

Seattle came into the second half with a solid lead, but the Atlanta offense and Julio Jones began making plays. Unfortunately, Jones would drop a pass that led to a costly interception and he would be held on a non-pass interference call at the end of the game. With a divisive game over, here are three things learned.

3. Christine Michael is an excellent running back for Seattle

With the retirement of Marshawn Lynch, the Seahawks have been searching for an option at running back. The belief was that it was going to be Thomas Rawls, but it has been Christine Michael instead. He had another two huge touchdowns on Sunday afternoon.

If Seattle keeps trusting Michael to do the job, they will find the balance on offense that they are looking for. It’s hard to believe he was almost out of the league, but coming back to Seattle has been great after all.

2. Julio Jones is human after all

After torching opponents, Julio Jones finally proved to be human. He had a big touchdown on Sunday, but he made the play that led to his team losing at the end. As Matt Ryan hit him in the hands with a pass, the ball deflected off his hands and it was intercepted by Earl Thomas.

It was a tough day for Jones and there is probably not a person that feels worse than him right now. Look for him to bounce back at home against San Diego next week.

1. The refs need to be held more accountable

Highlighted by the non-pass interference call at the end and one missed on Atlanta late, the refs did not do a good job this game. Simply put, that call on Richard Sherman holding Jones should be called, just as it should have been on the other side earlier. There has to be a way to eliminate these mistakes and the first way is holding refs accountable.
