The Internet is losing its mind over this mysterious Bill Murray photo

Can you detect whether this is Bill Murray or Tom Hanks in the photograph?

The Internet is no stranger to gathering its proverbial deck of cards and tossing it into the stratosphere. We’ve seen this happen with the dress, and other feats of photographic illusion that dare keyboard warriors to smash their calcium nubs away at good ol’ QWERTY in an attempt to rectify and relieve the situation.

Thus, it gives us great pleasure to announce that another photo — one which is churning the speculative butter — has the interwebs up in arms. This one, though, is much more fun than guessing the color of a dress.

Check out the picture below, then ask yourself: Is that Tom Hanks or Bill Murray?

First, you should know that this photo was taken and posted in 2013, so disregard the aging both men have accomplished in that time span. Also, it’s worth taking note that it was originally attributed to Bill Murray.

On first glance, yes, it does resemble Murray. But, Tom Hanks has an animated way of contorting his face to mimic that same countenance, so perhaps more research is needed?

Either way, this “story” is gaining steam on a variety of media channels, and it’s likely that the Bill Murray-Tom Hanks debate will rage in 2016 much the same way the dress raged in 2015. But, on to a much larger debate that this photo is inciting:
