Holy crap, how did the Bengals-Redskins tie in London?
By Joshua Mayer
Sunday morning’s London matchup between the Bengals and Redskins has ended with a 27-27 score, the second consecutive NFL week with a tie game.
While English sports fans are used to tie games, no one could have expected another NFL draw. The last time there were at least two ties in a season was 1997, which was also the last time there were ties in consecutive weeks, with the Redskins being apart of that combo as well.
With 2:13 left on the OT clock, Skins kicker Dustin Hopkins missed an easy 34 yard field goal after being iced by Marvin Lewis. Washington did not have to kick then and there as they had a second and four at the 13 with about three minutes left. Coach Jay Gruden decided to have Kirk Cousins take a knee in Hopkins prefered spot, but lost three yards while doing so. This proved to be costly, as Hopkins kick veered wide left at the wide second.
From there, Cincinnati got possession and drove for a couple first downs. Then, on a third and one, Dalton went for a sneak and lost the ball. This gave Cousins one more shot, but he was unable to move the ball and ended up throwing it out of bounds on a last second hail mary shot.

In a tightly contested game throughout, the Redskins offense controlled most of the game. With a 546 to 415 advantage in total yards, Washington also had eight more penalties than the Bengals.
Kirk Cousins threw for a career high 458 yards with two scores and one pick. His inability to score from the redzone ultimately cost the team, as they had one possession fizzle out on a fourth and one, and another go with no points after Cousins lone pick.
Andy Dalton was happy to have Tyler Eifert back, as he hit him for 102 yards on nine catches. AJ Green had another AJ Green day with nine catchers and 121 yards on a whopping 18 targets.
Next: One trade every NFL team should make
Overall, the Redskins move to 4-3-1, while the Bengals go to 3-4-1. Both teams are still in the thick of the playoff race halfway through their seasons but are most likely disappointed with the end result. The Bengals get a bye week before traveling to New York to face the Giants on Monday night on November 14th. The Redskins also get the post-London bye before hosting a home game against the NFC leading Vikings.
