A look at the Cubs radio call as they won the 2016 World Series.
On Wednesday night, the Chicago Cubs overcame 108 years worth of odds to win the World Series. They beat the Cleveland Indians in Game 7, which also went 10 innings. The final score was 8-7.
The game would be a back and forth affair. It saw the Cubs first go up with a Dexter Fowler leadoff home run. Then Carlos Santana tied the game with a RBI single of his own. Chicago eventually tried running away with the lead, up 5-1 at one point, until the Indians came back to tie it at 6-6.
As the teams went to extra innings, a rain delay went into effect. It caused a break in action, and when it stopped, the Cubs fired out two runs to take the lead, 8-6. The Indians scored one in the bottom of the 10th, but it wouldn’t be enough.
The Cubs fans went wild and the broadcast certainly showed a wide range of emotions. However, there was also the team’s radio call, which can be heard below. It has the final out of the game and the call of the team winning the World Series.

This World Series win is a proud moment for this franchise, which couldn’t seem to get any luck over the past, well, 108 years. They failed to even reach a World Series for decades. However, when the Cubs made it in 2016, they made the most of their opportunity and squeezed out a win to take home the title.

Chicago can now celebrate throughout the offseason as the World Series champions. It’s a moment that fans have been told to “wait until next year” for over and over again. That will no longer be the case, as this team has finally achieved what had been seen as impossible.
