When Anthony Rizzo spoke at the Cubs’ World Series parade, he handed over the final out ball from the World Series to the owner.

The ending to Game 7 of the World Series saw Kris Bryant bare hand a ball to Anthony Rizzo for the final out. This got them their first championship since 1908 and led to a celebration, which has lasted for days.

When that final out happened, Rizzo stuck the baseball in his back pocket before celebrating. It’s a ball that would be valued highly, especially since it came in the Cubs’ historic World Series win.

On Friday, the Cubs would have their World Series parade and rally, the latter of which saw a handful of players speak at the podium. This included Jon Lester swearing and David Ross signing off for the last time in his career.

However, during Anthony Rizzo’s time speaking, he brought up the final out ball. He then gave it to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, who bought the team in 2009.

Afterward, Rizzo got emotional introducing Ross. He didn’t call himself an “emotional wreck” this time around, though.

Following everyone’s speeches, the Cubs players and fans gathered together to sing “Go Cubs Go”, the franchise’s theme song. This closed out the rally.

The Cubs can now celebrate the World Series win throughout the offseason. They will then walk into the 2017 season as champions, something the sport of baseball and fans won’t be accustomed to. Being favorited to repeat next fall, especially if they keep this core together, could be a possibility too.
