College Football Picks Against The Spread Afternoon November 5

College football can be a fickle beast. It is still easier to pick against the spread than the NFL, but when you pick every game, it can get tough. I struggled a bit last week so I still have a big hole to dig myself out of.

More from College Football Odds

In case you don’t know what I do here, I pick every college football game of the season. Against the spread. Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds! I take the average of the odds from all of the Vegas casinos. I then round to the nearest half. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football (soccer).

This contains the picks for FBS vs. FBS games only. It is too hard to get an accurate spread on games that involve 1-AA teams.

I will assign a point value “bet” on each game, between one and five points. That way you can see just how confident I am in each pick. Look for those at the end of each line.

This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for you losing any of your worldly possessions (or limbs) because of my picks. These are a guideline that you can use to help you with your picks. I am a simple man. I can’t have that on my conscience.

This is the biggest week of the season so far with 59 FBS vs. FBS games! 17 of them kick off between 3:30 and 6 pm eastern. We will get to those picks.

Just in case you missed any:

Maryland at (3)Michigan(-30.5)(2): Wow, that is a lot of points! Maryland is not a great team, but they shouldn’t be this bad either. Michigan wins and it isn’t close, but I don’t think it’s quite this many either. Give me the Turtles.

Purdue at Minnesota(-16.5)(3): The Gopher offense looked better than is has all season last week. I hope it keeps up, because I’m taking Minnesota. I am a little nervous because Purdue is improving though.

Texas State at Appalachian State(-31.5)(1): Oh wow! I wasn’t expecting this big of a line! Oh well, give me Appalachian.

(18)Oklahoma State at Kansas State(-2.5)(2): I don’t really trust that Kansas State offense. These two have had some epic battles over the last decade. This could be another one of those, but I still like the Cowboys straight up.

Syracuse at (2)Clemson(-26.5)(3): Too many. Clemson has only beaten two teams by this much. South Carolina State and Boston College. Syracuse is better than that. Give me the Orange.

(19)Virginia Tech(-11.5) at Duke(3): This line is all over the place. It is still anywhere from -9.5 where it opened to -12.5. I could officially be there by kickoff, and I would still take the Hokies. This could get ugly.

Florida Atlantic at Rice(-3.5)(1): Do I have to pick this? FAU’s only win was the opener against Southern Illinois. They have lost the other seven by a combined 150 points. Rice’s only win is against Prarie View A&M. They have lost the other seven by a combined 146 points. That’s a four point difference. The spread is 3.5. Give me Rice!

Charlotte at Southern Mississippi(-19.5)(1): The Eagles are easily the better team, but they were last week as well and didn’t cover. However, I just can’t find it in myself to take Charlotte. Give me Southern Miss.

Oregon State at Stanford(-14.5)(3): Stanford looked better last week than they have all season, and Oregon State is a disaster on the road. This even looks low now. Give me Stanford.

TCU at (17)Baylor(-7.5)(3): This looks a bit low. TCU’s defense is solid, but Baylor just has too many weapons. TCU isn’t winning in Waco. They lose by at least ten.

Fresno State at Colorado State(-15.5)(1): Really? Is Air Force worse than Colorado State, because that’s what this line is saying? Give me Fresno. They are playing better football lately. This is too many.

BYU(-7.5) at Cincinnati(2): The Bearcats are reeling right now. Can they pull out of this tailspin? Maybe, but it wont happen here. Give me BYU.

Massachusetts at Troy(-21.5)(1): This is a tough line. UMass has played at times like they are a decent team. They have looked downright awful at other times. At least Troy is consistent. Give me the Trojans.

(11)Florida(-4.5) at Arkansas(5): This looks very low considering Arkansas can’t take care of the ball or stop the run. Florida wins by at least double this.

Missouri at South Carolina(-6.5)(4): Missouri lost to Middle Tennessee State and Kentucky both at home. I doubt South Carolina is worse than those two. They are about the same. Give me the Gamecocks.

Arizona at Washington State(-16.5)(2): Well, the Cougars are going to win and are the better team, but they have had problems covering lately because of defensive lapses. That said, seeing what Stanford did to Arizona in Tucson, this looks low. Give me Washington State.

Memphis(-3.5) at SMU(2): All of the sudden, this is a tough game for Memphis. SMU beat Houston. Memphis got trampled by Tulsa. Fortunately for the Tigers, SMU isn’t really a running team, but I think they have the momentum going into this. I’ll take SMU.
