5. History is on the Cowboys’ side

This matchup showcases two of the NFL’s most storied franchises and while both teams play in different conferences, they have played each other 31 times with the Cowboys leading the series 16-15.  The Cowboys also won the last matchup in 2012, which ended in overtime with a final score of 27-24.

Since 1991, the Cowboys have played the Steelers eight times and have won five of eight meetings. That is a trend that is in the Cowboys’ favor, and that trend should continue in Week 10. Not only does the eye test confirm that this year’s version of the Cowboys is far better than the slumping Steelers team they will face in Week 10, but so do the statistics.

The Cowboys are 7-1 and the Steelers are 4-4.  The Cowboys have the 10th ranked defense in reference to yards given up per game and the Steelers have the 24th ranked defense.  The Steelers have the 20th rushing defense in the league and the Cowboys have the sixth.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys are ranked third in yards per game the Steelers are ranked 12th. The Cowboys have the No. 1 rushing offense in the league while the Steelers have the league’s 25th ranked rushing offense.

When it’s all said and done, the Cowboys are just the better team and come Sunday, Dak Mania should continue for at least one more week. This will force Jerry Jones to develop an exit strategy that won’t alienate the franchise and the fan base when he makes the terrible decision of giving Tony Romo his job back at some point in the season.
