Draftkings NFL Cash Game Lineup – Week 13
We are entering the home stretch in 2016 and playoff time is just around the corner. Some teams already have the opportunity to clinch playoff spots this weekend. This is the time of year when you also have to be cognizant of what teams are playing for. If all else is equal, I will certainly choose the player fighting for a post season spot. Then there are the players that have nothing to play for but pride. Therefore, we have another layer of intangibles we must consider. Week 13 has some good match-ups with some picks that are obvious chalk but, we need them in our cash game lineup. So, lets start with our QB for our Draftkings NFL Cash Game Lineup for Week 13:
Quarterback: This pick really pains me! Being a veteran and having certain beliefs, which do not align with this QB, I am forced to keep politics and beliefs out of it. I know from a DFS perspective, you can never let outside beliefs enter the equation. Therefore, with my non-DFS NFL thoughts checked at the door, I am going with Colin Kaepernick this week. From a football perspective, I am also pained due to the fact that he is not a good quarterback!
As a former college QB, I could spend hours breaking him down: footwork, throwing motion, delivery, hand placement, progression reads, zone reads and so much more. He is just not good at most of these. But, the one thing he does bring to the table is: his LEGS! I don’t anticipate him throwing for 350 yards and 4 td’s but, I can see 250 with 2 tds. Now add in a good 50 to 100 yards with his legs and at least one running TD. A throwing QB would end the day with 14-18 FP’s but Kaep’s legs add another 11 to 16 points on top of that. In a cash game lineup, those are solid numbers.
Running Backs: One of the chalky picks that we can’t pass up this week is in this category. David Johnson is having a great fantasy year and there is no reason to believe that will change this week. The Redskins are ranked 25th overall in FP’s given up to running backs but, the stat that stands out is from Football Outsiders. Their DVOA rankings of all rushing defenses in the NFL has Washington dead last! Further, they rank 25th in rushing yards allowed and yards per game and 31st in yards per attempt. In a nut shell, this adds up to a good day for DJ and a safe cash game play with a high floor and ceiling.
Our second RB is another good cash game play with a high floor and decent ceiling since coming back in week 10 from injury. Jordan Howard is facing essentially the worst rushing defense in the
NFL. San Francisco is ranked 30th in DVOA for rushing defense and ranked last in rushing yards given up, yards per attempt and yards per game. In fact, they are giving up 171.8 yards per game on the ground! I have targeted the 49er’s run defense a number of times this year and this week is no different. The combination of Johnson against the Redskins and Howard versus the 49er’s is a solid cash game play.

Wide Receivers:
My choices at receiver are three options that we wouldn’t have considered earlier this year. Each of them is growing into a solid receiver in their own rights. So much so that I am comfortable playing each of them in any cash lineup. First, Michael Thomas, despite not being number 1 on the depth chart, has been playing like the Saints number 1 option. He has quickly become Drew Brees‘ best weapon and has broken the 20 point barrier four times this year.

Next, Jamison Crowder, is another receiver that has grown since week 1. With a floor of 14.4 over the last 5 weeks, he is a solid cash play. Throw in the fact that Tyrann Mathieu is not playing and a solid play becomes a potential ceiling buster.
Finally, most of you know that I have been tooting the horn of Tyreek Hill for many weeks. I was on his train way before most and it is paying dividends lately. With Maclin out another week and the Chiefs facing the 29th ranked passing defense in the Falcons…I am going to the well once more. Hill can and will score through the air, on the ground and on special teams. At the very least, I see him scoring one of those ways.
Tight End: I am following the over/under again and targeting the projected highest scoring game. The Saints and Lions total 52 points with the Saints implied score coming in at 29. I believe Brees will have another good day and besides Thomas, I am targeting the other weakness of Detroit’s. They are dead last in defending the tight end. While I am not a big Fleener fan, I still think this match-up will allow him to grab 5-7 catches and a TD. I can see that translating to 15-20 points safely and for a TE in a cash game lineup, that is a solid production.
Flex: After pulling in some high floor solid cash game picks, we are left perusing the low tier for our Flex pick. But, not to worry because, there is a potential gem in the mix. Two consecutive solid outings for this rookie, catching passes from one of the best, and now facing a good match-up with the Rams. Malcolm Mitchell has been solid the last 2 weeks and even turned in a 2 TD outing last week against the Jets. Now, with Gronkowski on IR, the Patriots will be using a 3-wide set more often and Mitchell will be seeing more opportunities. This is a bit of a riskier play than I would like and initially I had the Bears’ Wilson but, with 35 degrees and 92% chance of rain, I will take my chances with Mitchell.
Defense: The Ravens have been a solid defense all year, ranked 6th in pass defense and 1st in run defense. They are tied for sixth with 19 takeaways and are averaging 9 FP’s per week. I think with home field advantage against the 25th ranked offense in the NFL, the Ravens defense could have a respectable outing.
So there you have it, my DraftKings NFL cash game lineup for week 13. Remember, cash game lineups are optimized for H2H, Double up’s and 50-50 contests. Always play smart and stick to your bankroll discipline. As always feel free to leave comments or questions or reach out on twitter. Good luck to all in week 13.
