The highly anticipated 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee, has an official release date. If you’re a fan of Banjo-Kazooie, then you’ll love this game.

We’ve been extremely excited for Yooka-Laylee for quite some time now. After a little over a year in development, a release date for the game has been revealed and we’re extremely excited.

A kickstarter for the game began back in 2015. Developed by Playtonic Games (a group of former developers from Rare), they promised to create a true 3D platformer that pays homage to the ’90s.

They reach and even surpassed their goal in a matter of hours, raising more than two million dollars. Now, the finished product is almost here.

If you grew up in the ’90s, you more than likely owned a Nintendo 64. One of the main game developers for that console was Rare. Some notable games include Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

Ever since Microsoft purchased the company, Rare has never been the same. Playtonic Games is looking to change that for the better and deliver the games we grew up playing and loving.

Check out the new trailer below, which reveals a whole new playable world:

In Capital Cashino, we see a bright and vibrant world to explore. It definitely takes us back to those classic games we love and we can’t wait to try this one out.

Other than a new world, Playtonic Games also made another announcement that’s a bit disappointing, if we’re being honest. Since the beginning of development, they promised that the game would be coming to the Nintendo Wii U and many backers supported this project because of it.

Unfortunately, it looks like they will no longer be creating a Wii U version and have shifted their focus to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

Because of “unforeseen technical issues,” they won’t be able to bring the game to the Wii U. But, on the bright side, there will be a variety of ways to play this game. Other than the Switch, you’ll also be able to play on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
