Report: Sacramento Kings interested in Paul Millsap
According to Chris Vivlamore, the Sacramento Kings are interested in acquiring Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap.
It appears that the flood gates have been opened in Atlanta. With the Atlanta Hawks the subject of many trade rumors recently, they’re finally going all in and appear to be set on moving multiple players out of town.
It all started on Thursday night, when Adrian Wojanarowski reported that the Hawks were sending Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers. After that the rumors of Paul Millsap being on the move began to circulate and Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution took things another level by reporting the Sacramento Hawks are a team that’s very interested in Millsap.
Millsap is expected to opt out of his contract at the end of the season and will likely be a free agent. If the Kings were to try and acquire him, it would be a major risk on their part to try and do so.
They are currently in a battle for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference despite having a losing record and would like to go all in to make it. If they could get Millsap locked up to a long-term deal, then it would probably be easier for them to make a deal.
They have a player like Rudy Gay for salary matching purposes along with several young pieces on the roster that they could use to try and entice the Hawks into making a trade. It seems weird to see a team like the Kings being a buyer but that’s the state of the Western Conference this season.
