Fans of the Pokemon game — including Iman Shumpert — are going to love this bit of news: Pokemon Duel has just been released, and the gaming world is going crazy with delight!

The game’s official website already has all of the specs up about the new Pokemon Duel, and it’s a good one: players can now form opposing teams featuring a variety of Pokemon, and when two rival pocket monsters, they’ll spin their data disks to see which attacks they’ll be using.

In addition, by strategically assembling their team of six Pokémon, each with its own strengths and a set number of steps it can take, players can take different routes to rush toward the goal or block the opponent’s Pokémon from advancing.

One of the most amazing features of Pokemon Duel is the ability for players to match up against other players in real time around the world. This is a sharp deviation from many previous Pokemon games, which were all but solo efforts. In addition to moving Pokémon and battling, players will also be able to use a plate at the start of their turn. These plates have various effects, including swapping positions of Pokémon in play and giving their Pokémon various battle enhancements for that turn. The player who reaches their goal first wins the duel.

While the actual Pokemon Duel game is free to download in the App Store (or, if you’re on an Android, in the Google Play store), getting “add-ons” (such as plates and boosters) cost money, and can be purchased within the app once it’s downloaded. In addition, materials collected from purchased Boosters can be traded for desired Pokémon. In-game currency known as Gems can be purchased at the Shop or earned in several ways, such as by playing Pokemon Duel daily and clearing missions.
