On Friday, Mayor Reed confirmed that he has issued an order that all Atlanta area bars remain open until 2:30am local time.
Super Bowl LI is slated to begin approximately at 6:30 p.m. ET, meaning fans will have plenty of time to get their money’s worth at local bars. Whether it’s celebrating or drinking their sorrow’s away remains to be seen.
The Falcons enter the big game with an offense that’s put up insane statistical numbers on the road to Houston. The offense features playmakers all over the field with Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu on the outside and dual-threat running backs in Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in the backfield. Of course, the maestro of the powerful offense is “Matty Ice,” Matt Ryan.
The defense also features a number of playmakers who’ve shown they can control high-powered offenses despite their youth. Vic Beasley, Keanu Neal and Deion Jones look to be stars in the making on defense.
The New England Patriots will bring their own set of playmakers to Houston, none bigger than No. 12, Tom Brady. Around the future Hall of Famer are a bevy of emerging and established stars. Legarrette Blount, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan and Martellus Bennett all figure to be involved in the Patriots offense.
The Patriots defense also features a number of playmakers on defense, particularly on the backend with players such as Malcom Butler, Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung and Logan Ryan. The defensive backs figure to have the spotlight on them with Ryan looking to connect with Jones early and often.

Considering the proficiency of both offenses, fans in Atlanta figure to take full advantage of the extended hours on a Sunday. The only way Mayor Reed could one-up himself is to declare Monday a holiday in the city. Maybe Falcons fans will get a late-night update from the Mayor’s office should they hoist the Lombardi Trophy?
