Since Fire Emblem Heroes features characters from all over the series, here’s how and where you can play each character’s original game or games.

Fire Emblem Heroes admittedly has something of an excuse plot. Your character has the ability to summon other Heroes — which is how you get characters from all over the series.

Although you can find out a little about each character by tapping on their name, here’s a list of the characters currently appearing in the game (not all can be summoned so far), sorted by the games in which they appear.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is currently available on the Wii U Virtual Console, and is a remake of the very first game in the series. (The original didn’t make it over.) You’ll likely recognize Marth from his turns in the Super Smash Bros. series. New Mystery of the Emblem did not have an English release, but it is referred to in Heroes. (It’s a remake of the third game, which also didn’t come over.)

  • Marth
  • Caeda
  • Cain
  • Abel
  • Merric
  • Draug

  • Clarine
  • Gwendolyn
  • Fir
  • Raigh
  • Bartre
  • Sophia

Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade

Best known as Fire Emblem in the West, this game, the seventh in the series, became the first to make it to American shores. Currently, you can play it on the Wii U Virtual Console.

  • Eliwood
  • Hector
  • Lyn
  • Florina
  • Serra
  • Matthew
  • Raven
  • Nino
  • Hawkeye

Fire Emblem Awakening

Fire Emblem Awakening is currently available on the Nintendo 3DS. It’s actually distantly related to Shadow Dragon and New Mystery, which is why Tiki appears on this list as well. Additionally, as in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 3DS, a female and male version of Robin exist within the game.

  • Robin (M)
  • Robin (F)
  • Lissa

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Conquest

The latest game in the series actually exists in two versions: Birthright and Conquest. Granted, there’s actually a third DLC version as well, Revelation. However, Heroes primarily focuses on the first two. As with Robin, Corrin has both male and female versions. Characters with (C) after their names feature more prominently in Conquest. The same’s true of Birthright for those with a (B) after their names. (Revelation…well, let’s just say that’s a third path.)

  • Corrin (F)
  • Corrin (M)
  • Jakob
  • Azura
  • Felicia
  • Xander (C)
  • Camilla (C)
  • Leo (C)
  • Elise (C)

  • Ryoma (B)
  • Hinoka (B)
  • Takumi (B)

  • Hana (B)
  • Subaki (B)
  • Hinata (B)
  • Oboro (B)
  • Setsuna (B)
  • Azama (B)
  • Saizo (B)
  • Kagero (B)

Notably, the game doesn’t have characters from games like Path of Radiance, which features Ike, or The Sacred Stones. Other Japanese-only releases also don’t have representatives. Perhaps Alm and Celica will appear closer to the release of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia?
