Russell Westbrook showed off his incredible speed with a jaw-dropping finish to end the quarter.
Russell Westbrook has been in one of the most emotional games of his career. Kevin Durant has come back to Oklahoma City on the team they were one win away from defeating the year before. Westbrook reportedly hasn’t spoken to him since last summer, and now they’re back in OKC together, but on opposite sides. The crowd is loud, and chanting “cupcake” at an almost deafening tone. For the majority of the game Westbrook has been behind. Despite all this, he’s still dominant.
As the third quarter reached a close, Westbrook stood at the top of the 3-point arc waiting for the clock to wind down. It’s here where Westbrook shows what he’s always been capable of as an NBA player. His incredible speed and the athleticism that makes him a one man force in the NBA that even the greatest defenses struggle to slow down. Westbrook showed some of that speed for what is perhaps dunk of the night.
The player Westbrook blew by was one of the NBA’s best defenders, Andre Iguodala, and he made him look like a rookie. Westbrook then had the athleticism to jump into the air, before the defense could close his lane, and slam it home. There just aren’t many NBA players that can do stuff like that. Westbrook is one of the few that can, and it’s why defenses seem flummoxed at how they can possibly stop him.

Westbrook dominates any court the minute he walks on it. On a floor full of All-Stars, and arguably the most talent ever gathered on to one team, Westbrook stands out as the destructive force. There are other players out there who are just as talented as him, but nobody is as explosive. Which, in a game like this, really means something.
