Pokemon GO: What are Pinap Berries?
With 80 new Pokemon available to catch in Pokemon GO, the mobile game has come back in vogue. To help you navigate the new additions and changes, here’s a more in-depth look at one of the new aspects of the game.
This past Thursday, Pokemon GO added Generation 2 Pokemon into the game.
A handful of Gen 2 Pokemon had been previously added to the game, but were only available in eggs which players had to hatch. All the Pokemon were considered “baby” Pokemon and were not available at large in the wild.
Now 80 Pokemon found in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver have been officially introduced, causing a new spike in the game’s popularity.
In addition to the new Pokemon, new items have been added to give a fresh layer to gameplay. Among these new items are two new Berries players can use to aide in catching Pokemon. Previously, the only Berry available to use was the Razz Berry, which is used to temporarily make a Pokemon easier to catch.
One of the new Berries is the Pinap Berry. When fed to a Pokemon, the Berry will cause the Pokemon to drop more candies upon being caught. However, this will only happen if you are able to catch the Pokemon immediately after feeding it the Berry. The Berry will not last past that next attempt.
The Pinap Berry resembles a pineapple, as its name might suggest.
Under the influence of the Pinap Berry, Pokemon you catch will drop five candies, bringing the total candy gathered from each catch to six if you transfer that Pokemon.
Two extra candy may not sound like anything game-changing, but obtaining two extra candy each time eventually adds up and leads to you being able to evolve Pokemon much quicker. Pinap Berries become especially helpful when the Pokemon you are catching is rare. You want to get the most bang for your buck in that instance since you won’t know when you’ll see that Pokemon again.
