NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks and Timberwolves are still discussing Derrick Rose-Ricky Rubio swap
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves are still discussing a deal that would swap Derrick Rose and Ricky Rubio.
Time is running out until the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday, but that hasn’t stopped the calls from heating up on players in the NBA. As teams aim to look for the future or get better in the present, calls are being made. The New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves have been tied together in a Derrick Rose for Ricky Rubio trade rumor all week and it doesn’t appear to be over yet.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the rumors haven’t stopped and the two teams are still talking as the deadline draws near. The Timberwolves have been looking to move Rubio with the younger point guards on their roster. While Rose is a point guard, he is on an expiring deal and Tom Thibodeau knows him better than anyone else.
Although it seems like a deal that should make Minnesota fans apprehensive in some ways. Perhaps there might not be a better deal out there for Rubio currently, but trading him for an expiring contract for a player that’s getting older doesn’t necessarily scream a move that pushes them forward.

Then again, maybe the team feels that bringing in someone with a familiar system and a former MVP will help the young guards on the team continue to grow and learn. Whatever the case may be, it seems like these two teams have really been working on this deal for a while.
Anything can happen at the trade deadline and sometimes reunions end up being part of the day. If there’s going to be a reunion between Thibodeau and Rose, then it won’t come as a surprise to many.
