NBA Tank Rankings — it persists
2. Los Angeles Lakers
Worms make the dirt, and the dirt makes the earth
And all of the roots have a place to sleep now
All the chinooks have squash to eat now
Worms make the first, and the dirt makes the earth
And people hold hands and feel terrific
Food comes from dirt. It’s scientific.
The Aquabats – Worms Make Dirt
Yeah!
You might saying to yourself “but song lyrics were last week.” You’re right, of course. In science this is called a “memory.” It’s a sign you’re not dead.
Do you remember Showtime? Jeannie Buss does. Magic Johnson does. They traded for Corey Brewer so he could bring it back. That’s how it works, I think. He’s averaged 3.75 points on 11.2 minutes per game since the trade. Extrapolated to per-36 numbers, that’s just about where former Lakers star Roy Hibbert has been per-36 this year. When I say “SHOW,” you say “TIME” and stop looking at me like that. Fair is fair.
So far so good on retaining their pick. They’ve lost seven in a row, two ahead of the Suns in the win column for worst record in the West. When you have a team with a bunch of developing young talent, what you need is more young talent to develop. If these past few years of picks turn into something, and the Paul George rumors are true, that will be enough to vault them to relevance again, if not to the level of a contender.
We’ll see how it goes. In the meantime, let’s continue pointing and laughing like Galileo did when they shot him into the orbiting sun.
