NBA Tank Rankings: Why won’t it stop?
2. Orlando Magic
Now this is a team that knows what it’s doing, like Giordano’s putting a pizza place in the middle of the land of northern U.S. transplants.
Some might say that Orlando has a crowded frontcourt. There are others who might say that the Ibaka trade was an unmitigated disaster and that they were fortunate to get anything out of it instead of losing him for nothing. Still others might say that the young pieces they have have not showed enough promise to be part of a viable core going forward.
Exactly. Or something.
I’d like to contend that being lost and listless at this stage of the season when you have no real reason to win is a positive thing. It could be a concerted effort to make no real effort to do anything to win games. There’s no way a lack of direction this pointed could be anything but a plan.
On the other hand, it’s possible that Rob Hennigan is currently in front of his second grade class trying to give a book report on a book he didn’t read. Maybe he read the back cover and got the gist of the plot, and maybe he drew some very compelling stick figures to help distract people. Maybe he went with the “I won’t spoil the ending. If you want to know how it ends, you should read the book yourself” line to show he didn’t know how the plot concludes.
I don’t have an answer. All I know is they lost to the Kings. Good work.
