An Oklahoma City Thunder fan took advantage of the cupcake-themed night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Fans in Oklahoma City are still very bitter over Durant departing for Golden State. So much so that, before Monday night’s game against Golden State, one particular fan hobbled around in a cupcake costume to show Kevin Durant some love. Coincidentally, those at Chesapeake Energy Arena were specifically encouraged to look the part. You could say that this one Thunder fan took the cupcake.
The whole cupcake theme surrounds the story of a Kevin Durant injury. Before Monday’s night game against the Thunder, Durant sprained his MCL. Because of that, he had to park himself on the bench, which further resulted in disgust toward Steve Kerr from Golden State fans. If Durant was to partake in this game, then he would have the opportunity to finish off the season series against the Thunder.
Oklahoma City, though, found the timing of the Durant injury as nothing short of coincidence. Since the Durant trade, there has been some hard feelings between to the two parties, but things might die down shortly. Last year, Kevin Durant signed just a two-year deal with the Warriors, of which was worth over $50 million. If Durant stays planted in the Bay Area, then the rivalry between OKC and Golden State can proceed.

Though the taunting has been a new tradition since their first match-up against the Warriors, the Thunder, on the other hand, are trailing the series. Leading up to the final game of the series, the Thunder are winless in terms of just this season. But who’s that to bother? That certainly hasn’t stopped any zealous Oklahoma City fan from making a stand-up comedy out of it. Besides, with one of the top-producing guards in the business, Thunder fans have all the right to rejoice.
