After having to drop the title due to injury, Naomi returned on Tuesday and will be in the SmackDown Women’s Championship match at WWE WrestleMania 33

Whenever the WWE WrestleMania 33 match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was announced, the way the stipulation was phrased was odd. General manager Daniel Bryan said that Alexa Bliss would defend against “every available woman” on the roster. On Tuesday night’s go-home episode of SmackDown, it became clear why it was phrased that way, thanks to Naomi.

You’ll remember, Naomi originally captured the belt at WWE Fastlane. However, she suffered an injury in winning the belt. Therefore, she was forced to relinquish the belt just days after winning her first championship. However, she’ll get her shot in Orlando at winning it back off the woman she’s already beat.

As Bliss, Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Carmella and then Natalya all brawled in the ring on Tuesday night following the devolving of a singles match, Naomi’s music hit. And sure enough, out she came looking quite healthy.

She was met on the ramp by Natalya, but quickly dispatched her with a Frankensteiner. Naomi then slid into the ring, ducked a punch from Carmella and took out Bliss with a mean punch before delivering a flurry of kicks to Carmella. After this, she grabbed the microphone and announced that she is officially entering the title match at WrestleMania:

So now it’s clear that the original phrasing of the match was to leave the door open for her return. And I think we can all be thankful that’s the case.

Next: Best match from every WrestleMania in history

When she was able to capture her first-ever championship, she was applauded like a deserving hero. So with her return and involvement in the match, it’s safe to bet that she’ll have a great deal of support behind her. Either way, the SmackDown Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 33 just got a whole lot more intriguing.
