We got our first glimpse at gameplay for Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series in the new trailer, and Telltale Games continues to impress.

Out of all the properties Telltale Games could tackle, it decided to go with Guardians of the Galaxy. We aren’t complaining, though, since we love the first film and those characters. The studio already told a unique and original story with Batman: The Telltale Series, and it’ll be returning to the superhero genre with Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. The second trailer has officially released.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releasing on May 5, it’s great that we have this to hold us over until then. The game won’t be releasing for a couple of weeks, but it’ll be out just in time to get us ready for the next film. That being said, if you haven’t seen the first film or read any of the comic books, you don’t have to worry.

Marvel has given the game developers (Telltale Games and many others) complete freedom to tell original stories. This means that they’re able to craft their own narrative without sticking to original source material. Obviously, when it comes to the characters and certain plot elements, we expect to stay true to certain story elements. However, expect something refreshing and new.

Check out the new trailer below:

Immediately, you can notice that the game will be full of humor and wit. Director James Gunn did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life on the big screen. We’re hoping that Telltale Games is able to do the same with this game.

In the trailer, we see our favorite characters, such as Groot, Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord. You can see them trying to work together as a team, but there’s always going to be disagreements and conflict. Another aspect to point out is the role Thanos will play in this game.

Next: New Injustice 2 trailer focuses on the villains

Thanos is one of the strongest beings in the universe and him playing one of the main villains in this game has us excited. We still have to wait a little over a year until the Avengers finally face off against him in Infinity War. So this’ll do for now.

The first episode, “Tangled Up in Blue,” will be available on April 18, 2017.
