Will Tiger Woods be competing this week at The Masters 2017 in Augusta?

There probably isn’t someone that dominates the headlines past their peak in a sport quite like Tiger Woods. Despite not having won a major championship in close to a decade, anything Tiger does is a license to print money because of the legacy he has created with his 14 majors. Needless to say, if he’s playing in a tournament, then he’s got the spotlight. It’s one that he has earned of course.

With the Masters taking place this weekend in Augusta, it typically would have been a time to see how Woods would fare and if he could finally overcome the drought and win again. That won’t be the case this year at all for fans of Woods.

Once again, the former No. 1 golfer in the world has had to withdraw from competition because of the fact he hasn’t had proper time to prepare after dealing with his back issues that have been lingering since the surgeries he has had.

Of course, when Woods is indeed playing he is a ratings bonanza. For a guy that was once chasing history and the most majors ever, it was a story to watch at every major tournament. Like him or not, he certainly gave added incentive to watch the Masters and other tournaments.

The good news is that there are a ton of reasons and great stories to watch the Masters this year. Jordan Spieth’s redemption arc after his major collapse last year will certainly be the big story heading into later this week.
