How much money will the winner of The Masters 2017 receive this year?

The greatest phenomenon in golf will once again take place starting on Thursday, as the Masters begins. There’s plenty of reason to be hyped for the event this year, as the top stars are ready to battle for the green jacket after an exciting Sunday last year. Winning the Masters makes a golfer’s career, but it also makes their wallet a little heavier as well.

The entire purse for the event is the standard $10 million per usual. As is the case with the PGA pay distribution scale, the winner gets an allotted 18 percent. So if you’re doing the math, that means the winner of this year’s event will get exactly $1,800,000.

Not only is the green jacket and the legacy the reason these golfer’s play the game, the money is great too. After winning the event in 2015, Jordan Spieth was set up for a repeat victory in 2016 and another cool wad of cash. Instead, he fell apart on Sunday, and had to settle for just a tad less.

For the players that don’t win or miss the cut, it still isn’t bad for them. They all get paid according to the distribution scale and second place in the Masters is afforded just over $1,000,000. It’s not a bad consolation for just missing out out on the green jacket.

Danny Willett will aim to pick up another green jacket after an incredible comeback last year. With a determined Spieth and Rory McIlroy behind him, this has the potential to be quite the classic unfolding in Augusta.
