One of the premier PGA events of the entire year, The Masters, just wrapped up with Sergio Garcia pulling off an exciting finish. Now we look ahead to the 2018 edition, which will be held April 5-8 at the August National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The Masters is first of four men’s golf events throughout the year. It is usually scheduled for the first week in August. Garcia adds his name to an impressive list of past winners, joining the likes of Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and of course Tiger Woods.
This year’s event saw its share of spectacular highlights. No moment was bigger, perhaps than the final hole. Justin Rose left the door open on the 18th, but Garcia was unable to make the winning putt which took us to a playoff. on a sudden-death playoff with Garcia. He missed a crucial 14-foot putt that would’ve saved par, and Garcia stole the spotlight and the win by sinking a 12-foot birdie. Elsewhere, Russell Henley took an eagle shot and just destroyed the hole.
The winner of The Masters receives a nice payday, as well as a green jacket. When the event concludes on Sunday, the winner is presented with the jacket from the previous year’s winner. This has been a PGA tradition since 1949. Will Garcia be able to repeat at next year’s Masters? Will Dustin Johnson be able to return from injury? How about Tiger Woods returning to the site he’s won four times before injuries derailed his legendary career?
