The Falcons’ quarterback apparently sat back and watched his team’s heartbreaking loss to the Patriots over and over again for three straight days.

Super Bowl 51 will go down as one of the greatest comeback displays in the history of the NFL. The New England Patriots fought back from a 25-point deficit to Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons and ended up winning the big game in overtime.

As good as the Patriots’ comeback was, there was also the other side of the coin that featured the Falcons’ internal combustion that allowed New England to get back into the game and eventually win. Truly one of the most heartbreaking losses a team has ever had to endure in any sport.

Despite the nature in which Atlanta lost to the Patriots, it did not prevent Falcons quarterback Ryan from watching the game for three straight days after that fateful Sunday. Ryan was recently interviewed by Yahoo! Sports’ Shalise Manza Young and he talked about why he did not just try and erase the Super Bowl loss from his memory.

"“I watched it. I watched it a day after. I watched it two days after and I watched it three days after. For me, it was one of those things where you kind of want to be able to deal with it appropriately.Maybe, that’s different for everybody. Some people bury it away. Some people (do) whatever. … For me it was ‘all right, let’s watch. Does it feel the same way it felt as we were going through it?’”"

Ryan did also add that he is fully confident in the Falcons’ chances to return to the Super Bowl again during this upcoming season.

"“We fell a little bit short, but we should have every bit of confidence that we are going to be right back there next year getting a different outcome because we’re going to be more experienced.”"

Atlanta fans should be very happy with the type of quarterback they have to lead their team in 2017. This franchise has endured a lot throughout their long history and a lot of those bad memories would be erased if Ryan and the Falcons were able to finish next year with a Super Bowl victory.
