MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel April 11th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s main slate features 10 games, with Colorado (6.9), Toronto (5.3), and San Diego (5.3), holding the highest projected team totals. With a game at Coors Field, we’ll need to identify value in order to unlock some of the expensive bats on the Rockies. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
DraftKings MLB Values:

Yunel Escobar – LAA (3B/SS) – $3000
The LA Angels will host the visiting Diamondbacks, in a game in which LA is a slight -115 favorite. While you’ll want to have as much exposure to Colorado players in cash games as you can, Yunel Escobar could be a source of salary relief. Escobar will lead off for the Angels and is in a favorable split against the lefty, Cole Hamels. Escobar is one of the few players underpriced on DraftKings, relative to FanDuel.
Nolan Arenado – COL (3B) – $5200
As mentioned, Colorado batters will be popular tonight and rightfully so. While Nolan Arenado is by no means cheap, he’s offers the most value of any Colorado batter, at this price. Arenado will face a righty tonight, but Arenado has historically had reverse splits, especially in his power numbers. Last year, he recorded 32 home runs off of righties, and just 9 off of lefties. Arenado has the most power upside of any batter on Colorado, but it’s not reflected in the current pricing, as he’s only $500 more than players like D.J. Lemahieu.
FanDuel MLB Values:

Robbie Ray – ARI (P) – $7500
While he doesn’t have the ideal matchup (SF has a team total of 4 runs), Robbie Ray is extremely underpriced on FanDuel, relative to DraftKings. Ray has the highest K/9 on the slate of 11.76 and I have him currently projected for 8.4 strikeouts, also the highest on the slate.

Ray will have the benefit of pitching in one of the most pitcher friendly parks, AT&T Park. Depending on the lineup that the Giants elect to use, Ray could take advantage of the absence of Posey and the fact that most of the Giants power comes from left-handed batters (Belt, Crawford, and Span).
Devon Travis – TOR (2B) – $2400
Toronto has one of the highest projected team totals outside of teams playing at Coors Field, at 5.3 runs. Devon Travis is another player with reverse splits, and his are fairly drastic. Last year Travis hit for an average of .313 off of righties and just .260 off of lefties. If Travis leads off for the Blue Jays, he should be considered in all formats, given his price.
