MLB DFS Value Plays for DraftKings and FanDuel April 20th
I’ll be looking to uncover the most obvious MLB DFS Value Plays on each slate, and each site. Value plays will generally consist of under-priced players, or players priced differently on a given site. Some values will be in play on both sites, some will only be values on one specific site. Note that value tends to carry higher ownership and may be worth a fade in specific GPP contests.
Tonight’s slate features seven games, with Kansas City (4.7), Baltimore (4.7), Cincinnati (4.4), and Texas (4.4), holding the best projected team totals. With a few expensive, high strike out, pitchers on the slate, we’ll have to find as much value from our batters as we can. Here are a handful of value plays on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
MLB DFS: DraftKings MLB Values:

Trey Mancini – BAL (1B/OF) – $3500
After Seth Smith left Tuesday’s game with a hamstring strain, Trey Mancini moved up to lead off the Orioles on Wednesday night. Mancini may lead off tonight, and if he does, he’ll make an excellent value play on DraftKings. Baltimore has one of the highest totals on the slate at 4.7 runs, and Mancini could take advantage of this. Mancini offers dual position eligibility and has proven his power upside, recording 4 home runs this year.
Mike Moustakas – KC (3B) – $3700
Mike Moustakas will draw a favorable match-up against the righty, Andrew Cashner. Moustakas should offer value given his splits against righties. He currently holds a .384 wOBA split and a .299 ISO split when facing right handed pitching. Given his spot in the order and Kansas City’s projected team total, Moustakas is a bargain at this price.
MLB DFS: FanDuel MLB Values:

Alex Gordon – KC (OF) – $2700
Alex Gordon is another Kansas City hitter to consider when entering your FanDuel lineups tonight. Gordon should be leading off for the Royals and with the Royals on the road tonight, Gordon’s may see an increase in plate appearances.

While the opposing pitcher, Cashner, has kept a fairly low batted ball distance this year, he has seen a sizable increase in his opposing hard hit percentage. Over the last 15 days, he’s allowed a hard hit percentage of 44%, up 6% from his yearly average, dating back to last year.
Seth Smith – BAL (OF) – $2600
If Seth Smith is able to return tonight, and lead off, he’ll be an attractive value play at only $2600. $2600 is simply too cheap for a lead off batter on a team with one of the best projected team totals. Obviously if Smith leads off, Mancini’s value will diminish, so be sure to monitor the lineups when they are released. Smith will draw a favorable match-up as well, against a righty, where he holds a .336 wOBA split.
Best of luck tonight!
