Can the Edmonton Oilers put an end to the San Jose Sharks postseason in Game 6 on Saturday?

It has been a decade since the Edmonton Oilers last won a postseason series. This is the first time since 2006 they’ve even been in the playoffs. Thanks to a comeback win in Game 5 over the San Jose Sharks, Edmonton is a win away from advancing to face the Anaheim Ducks in the second round of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. First though, they must beat their division foe in Game 6 on Saturday. And Edmonton has to do it on the road, where it’s struggled this season.

Zack Kassian and Oscar Klefbom lead the Oilers with two goals each. Mark Letestu and Connor McDavid each have three points, a team high. Game 5 hero David Desharnais is tied with Kassian, Klefbom, Milan Lucic, Matt Benning and Leon Draisaitl with two points. Cam Talbot has to be huge in Game 6 for Edmonton to get a win. He’s been a difference maker during this series.

On the other side of the ice, the Sharks are hoping to channel their 2016 postseason magic. However, Edmonton provides them with a huge challenge. The Sharks have struggled at times to stop their speed. Martin Jones didn’t have his best performance in Game 5. He needs to rebound in Game 6.

San Jose finds a way to win Game 6. They’ve been excellent at home this season and postseason. Edmonton has to return to the scene of Game 4, where the Sharks beat them 7-0. San Jose has far too much pride to go down without a fight. This should set up a memorable Game 7 to determine who gets the privilege to face the Ducks in the second round.

Sharks beat Oilers 4-3.
