DraftKings Main MLB Picks For April 26

We have 12 games for our main DraftKings tournament tonight. Pitching is mostly thin in the afternoon. That is not the case tonight. There are nine pitchers priced at $8,000 or more. Three of them are in five figures. Who is worth paying for? Let’s check out some stats!

More from DFS

The money line was way up at 150.3 points. I did get one lineup over. The other one had about a third of that.

The winning lineup was one of the highest we’ve seen this year at 276.9. That was an astonishing 19.4 DraftKings points more than second place! The winner gambled on J.C. Ramirez, which I should have done since Erasmo Ramirez got scratched. He had a Tiger and Diamondback stack along with Trea Turner and Paul Goldschmidt. His worst hitter was Nick Castellanos with 13 DraftKings points. No one else was under 23!

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Apr 16, 2017; Chicago, IL, USA; Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester (34) delivers a pitch during the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. Mandatory Credit: Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

P: Jon Lester ($11,600): Lester has held the Pirates to a .231 average in 121 at bats with only three homers and eight runs scored while striking out 25. Lester has very good strikeout potential even if the Pirates haven’t fanned a lot thus far. Lester also has great win potential against the struggling Tyler Glasnow.

P: Dylan Bundy ($7,800): It is Alex Cobb who has the good history against the Orioles, not the other way around. In fact, Baltimore was pretty much handcuffed by what was essentially the Rays’ bullpen yesterday. So why the flip to Bundy, who has given up three homers in 27 at bats to the Rays? Because Bundy has dominated the Red Sox once and the Blue Jays twice. His worst game, also against Boston, was still a quality start. Bundy is 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched. I will take that over what happened in September of last year.

C: Buster Posey ($3,500): Posey seems a little bit underpriced here. He is 4-7 with a walk, two doubles, and three RBI against Alex Wood. Posey is still one of the best hitting catchers around. There is no reason for him not to live up to this price tag.

1B: Ryan Rua ($2,900): Here is your bargain for tonight so you don’t have to use such risky pitchers. Rua is 6-13 with a double, a homer, three RBI, and four runs scored off of Hector Santiago. So why is he so cheap? Well, Rua is hitting just .138 on the season. The bright side is that two of the hits have come in the past four games. That’s something, I guess.

2B: Rougned Odor ($4,300): Odor is 11-26(.423) with two walks, three doubles, a homer, five RBI, and six runs scored against Hector Santiago in his career. Odor hit him hard while Santiago was in the AL West. That likely wont change now.

3B: Miguel Sano ($4,600): Sano is 2-3 with three walks, three runs scored, a homer, and three RBI against Cole Hamels so far in his career. He is the only Twin to homer off of Hamels, but the Twins have managed to hit him pretty well. Just make sure that Sano doesn’t serve his impending suspension tonight.

SS: Asdrubal Cabrera ($3,400): Cabrera has the best wOBA against Teheran at .425. He is 6-15 with a walk, two doubles, a RBI, and two stolen bases in his career against Teheran. Stolen bases are often overlooked on DraftKings, but they are worth as much as a double. That can help you rack up points in a hurry!

OF: Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,900): Ellsbury is 12-31(.387) with a .529 wOBA against Rick Porcello. Porcello sure hasn’t looked like an ace so far, and many Yankees are cheap enough to put together a strong stack. They are hitting .301 against Porcello in 136 at bats. Ellsbury has three walks, two doubles, four steals, eight runs scored, and four solo homers against Porcello. I’m looking for a strong total here!

OF: Khris Davis ($3,600): Davis is about the only Oakland player that has managed to hit Matt Shoemaker well. Davis is 3-7 with a walk and two solo homers off of Shoemaker. There is a reason they are solo shots. Shoemaker hasn’t allowed many of Davis’ teammates on the basepaths.

OF: Christian Yelich ($4,400): Yelich is 3-8 with a .700 wOBA against Vince Velasquez so far. He has a triple, two homers, two runs scored, and three RBI in just those eight at bats. Velasquez has managed to contain the rest of the Marlins which limits Yelich’s potential of runs and RBI, but if he takes him deep, we wont complain. Seriously. His worst hit off of him is a triple!

Apr 14, 2017; Atlanta, GA, USA; Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran (49) throws against the San Diego Padres during the second inning during the first MLB game at SunTrust Park. Mandatory Credit: Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

P: Julio Teheran ($8,600): Teheran has dominated the Mets in his career. He has arguably the best BvP stats of the day for any pitcher. The Mets are hitting just .181 in 166 at bats against Teheran with four homers, only 12 runs, nad a solid 30 strikeouts. They also have mustered just a .242 wOBA. Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce have both managed two homers against Teheran, but they are a combined 10-50.

P: Vince Velasquez ($8,900): The Marlins are hitting only .216 in 51 at bats against Vince Velasquez. They have managed to take him deep twice, but it was by he same guy. The intriguing thing here is the 15 strikeouts in those 51 at bats. That is a very good percentage, and will help offset any runs he gives up.

C: Yadier Molina ($3,300): Molina is 12-34(.353) with three doubles, a homer, five runs scored, and five RBI in his career against Mat Latos. Latos was serviceable in his return to the majors in his first outing, but the Cardinals are familiar with him from his time with the Reds. Is a Cardinal stack in order?

1B: Freddie Freeman ($4,300): Robert Gsellman will be skipped because of the rainout, which means Noah Syndergaard will take the hill instead. That is just fine with Freeman. Freeman is 5-9 with a double, a triple, a homer, and four RBI against Thor. Syndergaard’s price is simply too high to roll the dice with since the Braves are hitting .288 against him collectively.

2B: Brian Dozier ($5,000): Dozier is 3-9 with a double, a triple, two walks, two runs scored, and two RBI against Cole Hamels so far. We all know that Dozier crushes lefties. After seeing what the Twins did to Texas last night, I will take a shot on Dozier getting his.

3B: Maikel Franco ($4,100): Franco is 4-12 with a double, a homer, and two RBI off of Wei-Yin Chen in his career. The Phillies are hitting .378 as a whole against Chen, so there is a lot of potential here is you decide to use a few Phillies. Every starter has at least one hit against Chen in their careers.

SS: Addison Russell ($3,300): Russell has a double, a triple, a run scored and three RBI in just three plate appearances against Tyler Glasnow. The Cubs knocked him around a little back on April 15th, so don’t be surprised if it happens again. The Pirates’ youngster has struggled with a 7.94 ERA in three starts with an ugly 2.29 WHIP.

OF: Mike Trout ($5,100): Trout is 4-7 with two walks, a triple, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI against Sean Manaea already. Manaea has suffered a slow start so far this year, and the right handed power in the Angels lineup could make it worse. For those of you looking to go cheaper than I did on pitching, Matt Shoemaker is in play. He has pitched well against Oakland in his career and has good win potential.

OF: Gerardo Parra ($4,100): Parra is 4-10 with a double, a solo homer, and three runs scored so far against Tanner Roark. This has the potential to be another high scoring game in the Mile HIgh City (aren’t they all?). Can the Rockies put up more of the runs tonight?

OF: Daniel Nava ($3,300): Nava has been getting pretty regular at bats for the Phillies this year, so I expect him in the lineup due to his history against Wei-Yin Chen. Nava is 7-17(.412) with a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI against Chen. That would make him a great bargain for the price if he can get to Chen again!
