DraftKings Main MLB Picks For April 27

There are only four evening games for the “main” DraftKings tournament on travel day. There are still five six of the eight pitchers priced at $8,000 or more. The Brewers are off and the Coors stack is during the day, so we don’t need that much for hitters, right? Let’s check some stats to make sure!

More from DFS

The money line in the main tournament last night was up to 136.25. Neither of my lineups broke 100. It was a product of spotty hitting as each lineup has two zeroes and a couple of other hitters in single digits. Jon Lester getting pummeled by the Pirates didn’t help matters either.

The winning lineup was way down, but we aren’t going to see many as high as two nights ago. Last night it was at 226.05. He had the brilliant performance of James Paxton coupled with the great bargain of Alex Wood. He stacked Rangers against Minnesota and had Harper’s four hit night.

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Chris Sale ($12,900): Sale has held the Yankees to a .205 average in 78 at bats with a whopping 32 strikeouts! They do have three solo homers against him, two by Chase Headley, but that is all he has given up. Sale has been dominant so far this year. I doubt that changes tonight.

P: Kendall Graveman ($7,900): Graveman doesn’t have great past stats against the Angels. They are hitting .299 against him with five homers, but only have nine RBI in 107 at bats. Graveman has been brilliant this year, giving up just four runs in three starts. I will go by what I’ve seen this year over what Graveman has done in the past.

C: Chris Iannetta ($2,800): Iannetta has only faced Jered Weaver three times. He did get a hit though. It was a two run homer. That’s good enough for me on a short slate!

1B: Albert Pujols ($4,100): I really wanted to go with Paul Goldschmidt here as many will, but I’m not willing to fade Chris Sale. I’m also not willing to take a risk on a cheap pitcher. I expect Oakland and Los Angeles to be a high scoring game. So I will take a slight step down with Pujols. He is still 7-19(.368) with two walks, a double, a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI against Kendall Graveman. That doesn’t seem like a step down.

2B: Jed Lowrie ($3,000): Lowrie is 3-8 with a walk, a run, a steal, and a RBI against Ricky Nolasco. I had to save some cash to pay up for pitching, so I trust Lowrie a tad more than Danny Espinosa. I may pull a switch later.

3B: Ryon Healy ($3,300): Healy is 4-10 wtih a double, a homer, and two RBI against Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco’s price is way too high just based on win potential. I will stack bats against him instead.

SS: Chris Owings (4,100): I’m taking another bat against Jered Weaver, just because. Do I really need a reason? There isn’t  much for past stats for shortstops here, and I came up $100 short on Aledmys Diaz. Owings it is!

OF: Yasmany Tomas ($4,400): Tomas has a solo homer off of Weaver in his three at bats. Weaver has pitched better lately than he did in the opener, but he is still a long ways from where he was in his prime. Arizona could score a lot of runs again tonight.

OF: Khris Davis ($3,700): It seems as though Davis has hit a home run against everyone in the league, doesn’t it? He is 5-15 with a solo homer and two runs scored against Nolasco in his career. I don’t expect either starter to go very deep in this game, but don’t worry. Davis hits the bullpen well too.

OF: David Peralta ($3,800): Peralta is hitless in three career at bats against Weaver, but his stats this season say it all. He is hitting .346 with three homers, seven RBI, three steals, and 13 runs scored. He can’t help but get something off of Weaver!
