The money line was down to 107.2 DraftKings points, which is unheard of for a 15 game slate. All of my lineups missed. Two had at least one bad pitcher, and the one with solid pitching got goose eggs from my Mariners.
The winning lineup held pretty steady at 195.8. He gambled with Clayton Kershaw at Coors Field, and hit with with Joe Biagini against Seattle. But what took this down for him was 35 DraftKings points from 1.5% owned Leury Garcia.
NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Chris Sale ($13,100): What Sale has done to the Rays is domination. Like 1950’s Yankees domination. The Rays are hitting just .126 against him in 95 at bats with just one extra base hit (a Rickie Weeks double), only three runs, and a whopping 38 strikeouts. There shouldn’t be anyone fading Sale today. He will put up too many points to fade him and still make money.
P: Matt Moore ($8,100): Matt Moore has never faced the Reds, but a lot of the power is left handed. The 6.52 ERA will scare off many, but he has a 3.05 ERA at home this year. He is getting destroyed on the road, but should be safe and sound in AT&T Park. He will give up a couple of runs, but should still put up decent points.
C: Nick Hundley ($2,900): Buster Posey caught all 17 innings – and hit the walk off home run – last night, so you know he wont be catching today if he is in the lineup at all. That gives Hundley, a solid hitter in his own right, a crack at a guy making his major league debut. The price is right here!
1B: Anthony Rizzo ($4,900): Rizzo is the only big name bat I am paying for today. Using the pitchers I am, I had to skimp on offense. I chose Rizzo because he is 8-29(.276) with three walks, a double, a triple, three homers, five runs scored, and seven RBI in his career against Carlos Martinez. He also has eight homers and 26 RBI in 156 at bats at Busch Stadium.
2B: Joe Panik ($3,200): I thought about stacking Giants lefties against Reds rookie right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla, but I don’t know just how many starters will play after going for 17 innings last night. Panik seems to be the safe bet since he is young and Aaron Hill is out.
3B: Darwin Barney ($3,100): Barney should get the start over lefty Chris Coghlan against lefty Dillon Overton. This is just saving money here, but it’s not a bad punt. Barney is hitting .306 on the season.
SS: Didi Gregorius ($3,500): Gregorius is 1-2 with a run scored against Mike Fiers in his career. Yankee Stadium makes even casual left handed hitters into sluggers if they can pull it down the line. Yankees hitters are priced right to take a shot on a few fly balls hugging the line and making it out. Gregorius does have 18 homers at Yankee Stadium, three times more than he has at Chase Field in roughly twice the at bats.
OF: Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,900): Ellsbury is 2-3 with two doubles, a run, and a RBI against Fiers already. Like Gregorius, Ellsbury doesn’t have much for power, but he can drive balls into the gap and swipe a bag or two.
OF: Aaron Hicks ($3,800): Hicks has blasted 14 home runs in just 229 Yankee Stadium at bats. He is much better against left handed pitching, but I will take a shot on him batting left handed against a fly ball pitcher in Yankee Stadium.
OF: Chris Young ($3,400): Chris Young tortures lefties, and Blake Snell allows a ton of baserunners. Young is a career .266 hitter against southpaws with 56 homers in 1,282 at bats. Did I mention that he is a career .300 hitter in Fenway Park? Young looks like a nice option on the cheaper side today.
