Indianapolis 500 schedule: When, what and how to watch live

The road to the 101st Indianapolis 500 is underway. Here’s the schedule of every IndyCar event for the race and how you can watch live, on TV and online.

This week kicks off the Verizon IndyCar Series’ almost two-week march to the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500. All told, there are 13 days of practices, qualifying sessions, events and of course the biggest open-wheel race in history.

To ensure that you don’t miss a single moment of the racing action between now and the 2017 Indianapolis 500, we’ve compiled the schedule of what’s happening at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, when it’s happening, and how you can watch it either on TV or online so that you are always up to date with IndyCar’s most important race.

It all leads up to the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 28 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which will include IndyCar’s biggest names as well as incoming faces like Gabby Chaves, Juan Pablo Montoya, Sage Karam, Stefan Wilson and Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso. But only one can be the new Indy 500 winner.

Here’s the complete schedule from now until the 101st Indianapolis 500 (all times ET):

Monday, May 15

  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Rookie Orientation Program
  • 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Practice 1 (live stream)

Tuesday, May 16

Saturday, May 20

  • 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. – Practice 6 (live stream)
  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Qualifying Day 1 (live stream)
  • 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Qualifying Day 1 (TV on ABC)

Sunday, May 21

  • 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Practice 7 (live stream)
  • 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Qualifying for positions 10-33 (live stream)
  • 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. – Qualifying for positions 10-33 (TV on ABC)
  • 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. – Fast 9 Qualifying (TV on ABC)

Monday, May 22

  • 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Practice 8/Carb Day Practice (TV on NBCSN)
  • 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Indy 500 Pit Stop Competition (TV on NBCSN)

Friday, May 26

  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Practice 9/Final Practice

Saturday, May 27

  • 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Public Drivers’ Meeting (live stream)

Sunday, May 28

  • 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – 101st Indianapolis 500 (TV on ABC; live stream)
