Draymond Green is the only man in the universe who thinks a Cavaliers-Warriors Finals rematch isn’t inevitable.

The Golden State Warriors know the importance of gaining and maintaining a lead in the NBA Playoffs after last season’s run. The Warriors overcame a 3-1 series deficit to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. But, infamously, lost a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Golden State Swiss Army knife Draymond Green doesn’t need to be reminded of their colossal failure. The star forward was suspended for Game 5 after a kick to LeBron James. Many speculated that if Green played  in Game 5 things would be different. But of course, things didn’t play out that way.

So far, the Warriors and Cavaliers appear to be on a historic collision course to meet in the NBA Finals for the third straight season. The Warriors are currently 11-0, while the Cavaliers are 10-0 in this years playoffs. No two teams have ever met in an NBA Finals undefeated in the playoffs. While Green may know the possibility of the two teams meeting is great, he’s elected to play devils advocate and keep things politically correct. Green was asked about the two teams meeting after the Warriors defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3. Below, was his response.

That answer could be looked one or two ways. The first thought would be that Golden Stare learned their lesson of humility from last season and learned not to take things for granted. Or, second, Green knows good and well the Warriors and Cavaliers will meet. He just knows to focus on this Game 4 coming up. Which ever message Green was trying to send, we know he and Golden State are as excited for the pending Cavaliers matchup as we are.
