When you play a game of pickup against Shaq, potentially being turned into Chris Dudley is exactly what you signed up for.

It may have been six years since Shaquille O’Neal last played in the NBA with the 2010-11 Boston Celtics. However, he still clearly has all the diesel power he could ever want for a game of pickup.

It was like we took a trip back in space-time to party like it’s 1999 with Shaq. That year when he was starring for the Los Angeles Lakers, he did something so utterly disrespectful on a basketball court to the New York Knicks’ Chris Dudley on a low-post jam. Dudley hated it, threw the basketball in O’Neal’s general direction and shouted something like Froot Loops at him.

Just the other day, Shaq brought that kind of blatant disrespect back to life. Did this poor dude that O’Neal backed down ever get up from this dunk in a pickup game? Who knows? This is what raw diesel power looks like, so just get over it.

People have to realize that this is the sort of thing you sign up for when you ask Shaq to play a game of pickup with you. What did you think he was going to do? Shoot corner 3s or work on channeling his inner LaMarcus Aldridge to illustrate his finesse game?

No, absolutely not! O’Neal made himself a four-time NBA Champion and a Basketball Hall of Famer by pummeling the opposition, especially Dudley that one time, in the low post. Though O’Neal may not have the legs he once did to get up and down the court, he can still clearly win at the rim better than just about anybody on Planet Earth. This is not how you beat Shaq.
