2017 Indy 500: How to watch online
The 2017 Indy 500 will add another chapter to IndyCar history. Here’s how you can watch this year’s Indianapolis 500 live, on TV and online.
The Indy 500 has its own special place in the history of motorsports, but the 2017 edition of the race may go down in Indianapolis 500 history. Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, who won the 100th running last year by pushing his fuel tank to its limit, has followed that surprising debut by posting the third-fastest time in qualifying. He’ll aim to be the first back-to-back Indy 500 winner since Helio Castroneves in 2001 and 2002.
Castroneves is back at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, too, still hunting for his fourth Indianapolis 500 win. Only three drivers — Rick Mears, A.J. Foyt and Al Unser — have been able to win the Borg-Warner Trophy four times. If Castroneves can add his name to that list, it will certainly be a way to celebrate his 20th year in IndyCar. It would also be the record 17th Indianapolis 500 win for team owner Roger Penske.
And what about Fernando Alonso? The Formula 1 legend is trying his hand at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for the first time. The 2017 Indy 500 could put Alonso’s name in a whole different record book if he’s able to outlast a field that includes six past Indianapolis 500 winners in Rossi, Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Juan Pablo Montoya, Tony Kanaan and Buddy Lazier. With so much competition, there’s no reason not to watch the Indy 500 live.
