DraftKings Main MLB Picks For June 3

Usually on days or nights where there are only five games in a DraftKings tournament the pitching options are very slim. Not tonight. There are a few high priced options, but also several mid-range pitchers that could come up big tonight. Which way should we go? Let’s check out some past stats and try to build a winner!

More from DFS

The money line was way up to 132.2 points last night. That’s what huge offensive outbursts will do if you stacked the right lineups. I did not. The Angels and Red Sox/Orioles all combined for ten runs total. It really didn’t matter that Michael Pineda got thumped. My lineup was doomed anyway.

Predictably, the winning lineup was pretty high at 234.35. He faded Kershaw and used Mike Foltynewicz and Jimmy Nelson instead, both of whom put up big numbers. He also had eight home runs from his eight hitters, and that was without Chris Owings getting even a single point!

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Ervin Santana ($11,600): The former Angel could be heaven sent for your DraftKings lineup tonight. Ervin has a career 3.76 ERA in 119 starts at Angel Stadium, including nine complete games and six shutouts. His career numbers against his former teammates aren’t great. They have hit .354 against him in 113 at bats, but despite all that carnage, they have only two homers and ten runs. The 25 strikeouts are a decent total. In a lineup without Mike Trout and Cameron Maybin, I trust Santana tonight.

P: Alex Cobb ($7,700): Cobb will get to tangle with a Mariners team that is missing one of the hottest hitters in the league in Jean Segura. His career numbers against the Mariners are good anyway. The current team is hitting just .206 against him in 68 at bats with three homers and seven runs. One player has done almost all of that damage. That lines up for Cobb having a solid outing. Oh, and he has a 3.72 career ERA at Safeco Field. Don’t expect miracles or a huge strikeout performance, but a win is on the table opposite Sam Gaviglio.

C: Sandy Leon ($3,000): Leon is 3-8 with a homer and two RBI in his career against Dylan Bundy. There is an outside chance that this game will end up being lower scoring that most predict, just like it was last night. Due to this, I’m not spending big on Mookie Betts. I will go with Leon for exposure and hope for the best.

1B: Lucas Duda ($4,300): Tyler Glasnow‘s career numbers against the Mets aren’t as terrible as you may think. The Mets have hit .333 against him, but they have not hit a home run in 21 at bats. I think that changes tonight. After Kyle Gibson‘s solid start last night, Glasnow is one of the worst starters in the league with a 6.95 ERA. He has allowed five homers in just 19 road innings. CitiField is friendly to left handed power. Just look at the two monster blasts Duda had last night. I will take a chance that he does it again.

2B: Robinson Cano ($4,300): Remember that one guy that has been a thorn in the side of Alex Cobb? It’s Cano. He is 8-23(.348) with a walk, a double, all three homers, four runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Cobb. Granted, most of that was done as a Yankee, but Cano is still worth using, even against my own pitcher.

3B: Manny Machado ($3,800): Machado is 10-34(.294) with a double, three homers, six runs scored, and five RBI in his career against David Price. Price didn’t look particularly sharp in his rehab starts or his first major league start of the year. That means stacking Orioles is not a bad idea. I am staying out of a stack geared towards any one team tonight, but I am definitely getting exposure to a David Price that is not at his best.

SS: Asdrubal Cabrera ($3,600): Cabrera is 1-2 with a double and two RBI off of Glasnow. Glasnow’s struggles are well noted this year. It is still a little bit risky stacking against someone as talented as him, but his confidence is really lacking right now. Stack against him while you still can.

OF: Mark Trumbo ($4,500): Trumbo is 9-34(.265) with two doubles, two homers, four runs scored, and seven RBI in his career against Price. The Orioles stack failed me last night. I don’t think it will against Price. However, if Price comes out and blows the Orioles away, I will take my lumps. It sure doesn’t look like he can right now though.

OF: Robbie Grossman ($3,600): Grossman is hitless in two at bats in his career against Matt Shoemaker, but with the kind of roll he is on lately, I have to use him for this price.

OF: Max Kepler ($3,600): Kepler has notched a DraftKings point in all but one of his last 14 games. For this price, he is worth using for sure points, and the fact that he is beginning to find his power stroke. There aren’t a lot of mid range options for hitters tonight, but these seem like fair prices for a Twins offense that is finally scoring some runs after being thrashed by Houston.
