The Ravens signed Jeremy Maclin to a two-year deal but aren’t ready to settle for just one wide receiver. Eric Decker is also on the team’s radar.

Joe Flacco is smiling ear to ear somewhere inside the Ravens facility. After inking Jeremy Maclin on Monday, the Ravens aren’t content with just adding one playmaker. With Eric Decker expected to be released or traded by the Jets, Baltimore is keeping tabs on Decker despite already signing Maclin.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported the Ravens interest in Decker.

Adding Decker would give the Baltimore Ravens a pure possession receiver that they desperately need. The incumbent core of Breshad Perriman, Jeremy Maclin, and Mike Wallace are known primarily as deep threats. Decker would give the Ravens a productive wideout to roam the middle. With tight end Dennis Pitta done for good, adding Decker could be the final weapon in the Ravens’ offensive offensive arsenal. It’s unclear whether the team will have to pony up and trade for Decker at this point.

There’s still plenty of room for Eric Decker on the Ravens roster even after adding Maclin. Outside of Maclin and Wallace, the rest of the Ravens wide receiver unit is very underwhelming. Baltimore did not take any receivers during the 2017 NFL Draft, loading up on the defensive side of the ball. It’s hard to question their strategy as Marlon Humphrey, Tyus Bowser, Tim Williams, and Chris Wormley should make immediate impacts on the Ravens defense.

For Decker, the chance to play for a contender instead of the woeful Jets has to be a welcome sight. Decker, 30, caught just nine passes in 2016 after and injury-riddled season. With a competent quarterback in Flacco, Decker could have a productive season with the Ravens. Decker, 6-foot-3, would also provide a nice red-zone option that is lacking in Baltimore’s offense.
