Lonnie Chisenhall is currently on a tear at the plate for the Indians. Can fantasy owners now feel as though he should be a waiver wire add?

The Indians offense is rolling, Orioles’ pitching certainly helps, but the team is starting to heat up after a lackluster start to the season. One of their more constant offensive performers all season though has been Lonnie Chisenhall. But, is it time to make him a fantasy add?

Chisenhall’s story is well documented. The once lauded prospect was supposed to be ticketed at the hot corner for the Tribe, where the hope was that he would look it down for years to come. Unfortunately, things never panned out that way, but he has etched out a solid role with the Indians in the outfield.

This season, Chisenhall has morphed into one of the Tribes’ best run producers. He currently sits with a .298/10 HR/37 RBI/.974 OPS line over 46 games. His HR rate is the best of his career, his career high is 13 in 2014, and the RBI output only trails the team leader by two. Which is all the more impressive considering he missed nearly two weeks due to concussion symptoms.

He hit the DL on May 25 and since his return on June 6, has notched 15 hits, 15 RBI and four HR over 39 at-bats. He is squaring the ball up well right now and hitting in the middle of the Indians’ order is paying huge dividends in his counting stats.

Another positive spot in his game this season is that he is handling both RHP and LHP well. Even though he has only 29 plate appearances versus lefties, he holds a solid .348/2 HR/6 RBI line.  He still handles righties too, .287/8 HR/31 RBI. but the joint success is great to see.

Chisenhall is in the middle of what should be a career best season. He should flirt with 20 HR if he stays healthy the rest of the way and the RBI total could climb into the 70-80 range by sticking in the middle of a solid lineup.

Fantasy owners can not ask for much more in a waiver wire candidate, making him a great target. Make the move.
