NBA Trade Rumors: Timberwolves trying to trade Ricky Rubio
The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to make moves ahead of the NBA Draft and now it’s being reported that they’re involving Ricky Rubio in the trade talks.
The Timberwolves have the No. 7 overall pick in the NBA Draft later this evening, but are trying to make moves for a star player or additional draft picks. The player in the middle of all of the trade discussions happens to be starting point guard, Ricky Rubio, per The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Rubio, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who has constantly been the center of trade discussions. In his six seasons in the NBA, the Spanish star has averaged 10.3 points, 8.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. Although his scoring has been stagnant throughout his career, his passing ability has grown, as his average assists per game has constantly increased.
The Timberwolves’ point guard has been known for his passing ability, and nifty assists in tight windows. His scoring and shooting ability always been a center point of discussion, because he’s only a 37 percent shooter in his career. That isn’t going to cut it in today’s NBA and the Timberwolves know that. Minnesota drafted Kris Dunn in last year’s draft, but he might also be on the move, if the Timberwolves were looking to add a star like Jimmy Butler.
