DraftKings Late MLB Picks For June 25

We are down to six later games for our DraftKings slate. Most of the pitching options a ugly here, and many will be paying up for hitting. Where should we be sheep? Who can separate us from the pack? Let’s try to find out!

More from DFS

The money line yesterday was about the name as Friday night at 108.4 DraftKings points. My lineup with McCullers and Clayton Kershaw finished well within the money. The other failed because of Tyler Chatwood‘s worst road start in three years.

The winning lineup was a really average total of 166.5 DraftKings points. He used Jacob deGrom with Kershaw and hit big with cheap bats like Wilmer Flores, Jordy Mercer, and Josh Harrison.

These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

Jun 24, 2017; Seattle, WA, USA; Houston Astros right fielder George Springer (4) beats the throw to Seattle Mariners first baseman Taylor Motter (21) at first base during the third inning at Safeco Field. Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports /

P: Jordan Zimmerman ($8,400): Only four current Padres have faced Zimmerman. They are a combined 0-11 with six strikeouts. The Padres continue to be one of the most anemic offenses in the league. Losing Yangervis Solarte wont help. Zimmerman’s numbers on the season are terrible, but he has four straight quality starts in June. He is starting to come around, and has the potential at a very good game against the Padres tonight.

P: Brandon McCarthy ($7,500): McCarthy has been outstanding this season, posting a 3.13 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 72 innings. He has been even better at home, with a 2.86 ERA and 38 strikeouts over 44 innings in eight starts. He doesn’t go particularly deep into games, but he is very good while in there. McCarthy also has a great chance at a win against Tyler Anderson.

C: Mike Zunino ($3,600): Hitting home runs is hard work! The Mariners gave Zunino a night off last night, so expect him to be back in there against Brad Peacock. Zunino is 3-9 with two homers and five RBI in his career against Peacock. He is an elite play once again!

1B: Paul Goldschmidt ($5,800): Jeremy Hellickson has mostly avoided Goldschmidt in his career. Goldie is 0-2, but has walked three times and scored three times. You obviously want more if you are spending this type of money. It may happen considering Hellickson’s 4.34 ERA in 14 career starts at Chase Field.

2B: Josh Harrison ($4,200): Harrison is 9-37(.243) with a walk, a double, a homer, five runs scored, a steal, and three RBI in his career against Mike Leake. Leake has been roughed up in three of his last five starts, and also has an ERA nearly a third of a run higher at home. Stacking Pirates is a risk, but this offense has been good lately, and Leake’s regression to the mean has started.

3B: Maikel Franco ($3,600): Randall Delgado has been very good in his four starts this year, but Franco is perfect against him. Franco has a single and two solo homers in three at bats against Delgado in his career. For this price, it is worth seeing if he can do it again.

SS: Jordy Mercer ($3,300): Mercer is 11-30(.367) with two walks, two doubles, and two solo homers in his career against Leake. The price is right here for Mercer. I will ride the Pirates to money again like I did yesterday afternoon!

OF: George Springer ($5,000): Ariel Miranda has been pretty solid for Seattle, but Springer has had his number. Springer is 3-8 with a walk against Miranda. All three of those hits are solo home runs. In fact, the Astros have blasted six homers in just 64 at bats against Miranda. A stack is in order if you can afford it!

OF: Justin Upton ($4,300): Upton is 10-21(.476) with three walks, a double, a triple, a homer, five runs scored, and two RBI in his career against Clayton Richard from his time in Arizona. It could be rough going for Richard again tonight.

OF: Andrew McCutchen ($4,200): McCutchen is 21-80(.263) with five walks, two doubles, two homers, nine runs scored, a steal, and six RBI in his career against Leake. A Pirates stack is warranted, and will likely be lesser used.
