The Knicks continue to bottom out after the firing of Phil Jackson. Now it’s being reported that Carmelo Anthony got into it with Kristaps Porzingis.

Wow, the fallout from this firing in New York continues to get worse and worse. The New York Knicks almost bought out superstar Carmelo Anthony and traded away Kristaps Porzingis. Before that could happen, owner James Dolan stepped in and fired President of Basketball Operations Phil Jackson.

Now we’re hearing more about what was going on behind the scenes. Since the drafting of Porzingis and his meteoric rise, fans in New York have started to gravitate toward the Latvian and away from ‘Melo. That could’ve rubbed the former face of the franchise the wrong way, as he and Porzingis reportedly got into it over the triangle offense.

Phil Jackson was the creator of the triangle offense — something that’s seldom run in the NBA and doesn’t work with the Knicks’ personnel. But Porzingis supposedly spoke positively of the triangle offense. That immediately rubbed Carmelo Anthony the wrong way, who got into late last season, according to New York Post’s Marc Bermann.

‘Melo was never a fan of the triangle offense, repeatedly voicing his displeasure and this was another showing of it. According to Bermann, it wasn’t just the standard argument or fight, Anthony “really chewed out Porzingis, lit into him.”

Jackson has continually force fed his style of offense onto the Knicks’ players and it hasn’t sat well with a majority of the roster. Now that Dolan has fired Jackson, the direction of the franchise has changed and it’ll be interesting to see where they go.

It’s all but certain that Porzingis will be there and be the center point for this franchise for years to come. Anthony could still be bought out, but this spat between the two sure helps that case.
