The Cleveland Cavaliers made a simple move to try to keep their successful core intact early in free agency.
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Cleveland Cavaliers agreed to a three-year, $22 million contract with Kyle Korver.
Korver is known for his sharpshooting. His ability to shoot from anywhere on the court has made the Cavaliers offense incredibly dynamic since joining the team earlier in the 2016-2017 season. As a member of the Cavs, Korver shot an amazing 48.5 percent from beyond the arc.
In Cleveland, the 36-year-old has had to make a shift in his style. He is getting less minutes than he has with other teams in the past seasons. He played 24.5 minutes per game on average with the Cavaliers, the least he has been on the court since the 2011-2012 season.
Cleveland’s front office clearly wants to keep their team stable. They are accomplishing this by losing as few pieces as possible. While coming off the bench, Korver still played a major role in getting the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors in five games.
Korver has been able to flourish in his short time in Cleveland because of the opportunities given to him by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. While they receive all the attention, Korver can often find himself for quick shooting opportunities.
He averaged 10.7 points per game in 35 appearances with the Cavaliers. This is his most since being named to the All-Star team as a member of the Atlanta Hawks during the 2014-2015 season.

Korver received less money to be with a great team. J.J. Redick, a similar player, earned $23 million for one season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
While he is 36, Korver shows no signs of slowing down, which gives the Cavaliers hope that he will be able to maintain his good stretch of play for the next three seasons.
