The money line yesterday afternoon was at 101.4. My lineup was done in by Pineda getting rocked by the Blue Jays.
The winning lineup was a modest 153.4 DraftKings points. He used Sonny Gray, who was easily the best pitcher of the afternoon. He used a Blue Jays stack with Aaron Judge and Mallex Smith to take down the title.
These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Michael Wacha ($10,700): The Marlins are only hitting .225 against Wacha in 40 at bats with Martin Prado hitting the only home run off of him. Wacha wont wow you with strikeouts, but this looks like another miserable pitching day just like yesterday was. Im wary to pay up for pitching, but the mid and low range options are dreadful. Wacha’s season numbers aren’t very good, but he has a 2.91 ERA at home, and shut down the Nationals and Reds there over his last two starts. He should be worth the money today.
P: Anibal Sanchez ($6,500): I couldn’t find a way to get the hitters I wanted with Montgomery as my second pitcher, so I am going to take a huge risk with Sanchez. He has only allowed six earned runs in three starts since his return from the minors, and he gets to face a light-hitting, and very injured, Giants lineup. Sanchez’s season numbers are equal opportunity dreadful, but the last three starts combined with an average at best Giants lineup makes him a decent play.
C: Stuart Turner ($2,700): With Devin Mesoraco out again, it should be Turner that gets the call in a day game after a night game. I am looking for all the cheap exposure to Coors that I can get with a rookie making his second career start for the Reds and Tyler Chatwood and his 6.40 ERA toeing the rubber for the home team.
1B: Miguel Cabrera ($3,700): MIggy is 4-8 with a walk, a double, a homer, and five RBI in his career against Johnny Cueto. Cueto has struggled this year. He has a 4.26 ERA, and a 4.65 ERA on the road. He is openly auditioning for a one-way ticket out of the Bay Area, so that may help him some. If he can pitch well against the Tigers, that will go a long way towards helping him. I still like Miggy at this bargain price though.
2B: Scooter Gennett ($4,700): My reasoning for using Gennett is much the same as it was yesterday. He has ample power at a hitter’s park. The only difference is that today he faces a pitcher than has been awful at home and an average-at-best bullpen behind him.
3B: Eugenio Suarez ($4,200): Suarez looks awfully cheap considering the park he is in. He is only 1-3 in his career against Chatwood, but he has also walked twice and scored twice. He also has power potential. Ten of his 12 long balls have come at home, but Coors is actually more of a hitters haven than his generous home park.
SS: Brandon Crawford ($3,000): The pickings are slim this far down on the shortstop ladder. I couldn’t afford Cozart, so the only available options here are Crawford and Jose Iglesias. Crawford at least bats second, and he isn’t trying to get a hit off of Johnny Cueto. That’s good enough for me today.
OF: Charlie Blackmon ($5,900): Sal Romano gave up two earned runs in three innings in a spot start earlier this year. Now he has to face a Rockies team, that though a little beat up, is still the best offensive team in the league at home. Blackmon is a must at the top of that order. His power/speed combo can result in some huge DraftKings point scores.
OF: Raimel Tapia ($4,300): Tapia is the same price as Carlos Gonzalez. Don’t pay for the struggling name. Tapia is batting second in this lineup, and has three 20+ DraftKings points games in his last seven. CarGo is only averaging 5.8 DraftKings points per game on the season. Don’t pay the premium for the name brand when the off brand tastes (hits) better.
OF: Justin Upton ($4,300): Upton has also hit Cueto well. He is 6-20 with three walks, two doubles, two solo homers, and three runs scored off of him. There are plenty of other stack options available today, but I am electing to go the road less traveled by taking cheap talent against a struggling ace.
