Jamal Crawford has found a new home. He will sign a two-year deal worth $8.9 million with Minnesota Timberwolves.

The man with the sickest handles in the league is headed to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jamal Crawford has agreed to sign a contract worth $8.9 million with the Tom Thibedeau led Timberwolves. For a team that badly lacked shooting, Crawford is a welcomed addition who converted on .36 percent from 3-point range in 2016-2017. Crawford has to clear waivers via his buyout from Atlanta where he can officially sign his new deal on Monday.

Shams Charania of the Vertical first reported the news:

Crawford, 37, had several teams interested in him including the Cavs, Lakers, and Celtics. Instead, he will opt to sign with the Wolves and the young core of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. Along with the addition of Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Jeff Teague, the Timberwolves should be playoff bound for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.

Crawford is most known for his ability to score off the bench. He has won the sixth man of the year award on three separate occasions including the 2015-2016 season. Crawford was traded by the Clippers earlier this offseason and opted for a buyout from the Hawks to play for a ready-made contender. Let’s see now if Minnesota can deliver on that contention out in the strong Western Conference.

Jamal Crawford averaged 12.3 points across 26.3 minutes per game a year ago. He played in all 82 games showing incredible durability during his 17 year NBA career. Crawford figures to be a perfect fit for a young Wolves team providing locker room leadership and a streaky scoring touch. Crawford is limited on the defensive end but that is on the Timberwolves biggest strengths as Tom Thibodeau is a defensive minded head coach.
