The money line last night was up to 127.85 DraftKings points. One lineup missed because of the gamble on Jeff Hoffman. The other imploded when Darvish did.
The winning lineup was all the way up to 273.6 DraftKings points. He got off to a great start with Aaron Nola. What won him the money was a Marlins stack sprinkled with Adrian Beltre and Anthony Rizzo.
These picks are based mostly on statistical analysis . If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players. Check out this post from Matt McGarvey for great tips about whether to use a hot player in DFS or not.

P: Zack Godley ($8,400): Godley gave up three runs in seven innings while striking out seven against the Cardinals earlier this season. That game was in Arizona, so he has a little more friendly pitching situation in St. Louis tonight. The Yankees are hitting .273 against Chris Archer, and Jon Lester has a 4.47 road ERA this year. Godley is just as good of a bet at those two, and he comes $3,500 cheaper than Lester and $1,700 cheaper than Archer.
P: Chris Flexen ($6,500): Flexen is an unknown, so I will stick with what I know: The Padres are even worse against right handed pitching since Flexen will own the platoon advantage against most of the San Diego lineup. Flexen posted a stellar 1.66 ERA at AA Binghamton this year. He could have a very nice debut against the Padres.
C: Wilson Ramos ($3,000): The current Rays are hitting .335 in 161 at bats against CC Sabathia. Ramos has never faced Sabathia, but he has hit left handers hard. Add that to the fact that he is in Yankee Stadium, where Sabathia’s ERA is still approaching 5, and I like Ramos at this price.
1B: Lucas Duda ($4,300): Lefties are hitting .327 in 159 at bats against Luis Perdomo this year. Even in a ballpark that doesn’t cater to power, those kinds of numbers can spell disaster against a team like the Mets who have so much power from the left side. I was going to stack Cubs against Mike Pelfrey, but the last three times I stacked against Pelfrey, he turned in quality starts. I am going a different direction tonight.
2B: Dee Gordon ($4,300): Robert Stephenson pitched pretty well in the minors, but he still owns a 8.10 ERA in 13 major league appearances this year. He is finally back from exile at AAA, but the Marlins are not the team you want to pit him against. The Fish blasted Yu Darvish for ten runs last night, and they have only scored under three runs twice in the last ten games. This wont be one where they are held under.
3B: Evan Longoria ($3,900): Sabathia is on the mound against the Rays. That means Longoria is in my lineup again. Longoria is 30-74(.405) with 15 walks, nine doubles, seven homers, 15 runs scored, and 16 RBI in his career against Sabathia. I expect a quality start from CC, but I also expect Longoria to drill him again. It’s what he does.
SS: Asdrubal Cabrera ($3,900): Cabrera is finally getting back to where he was before he landed on the DL in May. He is hitting .297 in the last ten games, including going 5-8 in this series against San Diego. With the way Perdomo has struggled against lefties, I definitely want Asdrubal in there.
OF: Michael Conforto ($5,400): Conforto has four homers and seven RBI in the last ten games. He is also getting back on track after initially struggling after he came off the DL. My left handed Mets stack is only missing Jay Bruce, but I decided to go with the Marlins power outfield instead.
OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($5,700): Stanton has six homers in his last eight games, and he is facing a guy with a 8.10 ERA in 13 major league appearances this season. Any questions?
OF: Marcell Ozuna ($4,400): Ozuna has quietly hit 23 homers this year. He is sporting a .845 OPS in the month of July. Add him to my Marlins exposure to Robert Stephenson! He may be looking good in the minors, but his major league track record is lacking.
