Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is very open to bringing in Colin Kaepernick as they look at options to replace Joe Flacco.
The Baltimore Ravens got some terrible news on Wednesday, July 26. Franchise quarterback Joe Flacco could miss time due to an injured back. The disc has been bothering him throughout the summer, and it should keep him out for at least a week, according to the team.
However, the Ravens are open to bringing in another quarterback, so maybe Flacco’s a little more hurt than they’re letting on. During an interview before training camp, head coach John Harbaugh, without being prompted, said the team is open to signing Colin Kaepernick.

Currently, the Ravens have Ryan Mallett as a backup quarterback. They don’t have a third quarterback listed on their website, so bringing in Kaepernick is plausible. Keep in mind, Greg Roman knows the former 49ers quarterback’s skill set and limitations, having been his offensive coordinator during his time in San Francisco. Roman is on the Ravens’ staff, serving as a senior offensive assistant.

Kaepernick would be a nice fit in Baltimore. He’s far from an elite quarterback, but it’s hard to imagine he’s not better than Mallett. Kaepernick has a recent track record of success, even if it is a few years old. The Ravens have a better offense than the 49ers as well, so maybe he can revive his career with Roman and the Ravens.

Since becoming a free agent, Kaepernick has seen minimal interest from other teams. The Seattle Seahawks reportedly asked about him and head coach Pete Carroll went as far as to say he’s capable of being a starter. But for unknown reasons, the Seahawks didn’t sign him.
If nothing else, let’s all hope Kaepernick gets a chance so everyone can stop arguing about why he doesn’t have a job yet.
