Can Tim Beckham Kickstart Your Offense Like He Did The Orioles?
The Orioles have got very little production from the shortstop position since J.J. Hardy went down more than a month ago. Their answer was to go grab Tim Beckham from the Rays. Here is the deal:
The early returns have been better than anyone could have imagined. In three games with the Orioles, Beckham is 7-12 with a homer, three RBI, and four runs scored. Not bad, huh? Now the kicker: he is still only owned in 10% of leagues!
Beckham has a solid .265 average with 12 homers and five steals. Shortstop is a pretty shallow position for fantasy purposes. Beckham is worth a look in all leagues, even ten team leagues that have a MI slot.

The Orioles have stated that the job is Hardy’s when he returns, but the Orioles may have to rethink that. Beckham has help kickstart a stagnant offense. He could do the same for your fantasy team.
Ruben Tejada will pull up some pine for now, but he likely wasn’t being counted on by many of us anyway.
The acquisition of Adeiny Hechavarria by the Rays in June left Beckham expendable. They used him to get a raw pitching prospect in return.
Tobias Myers is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA in seven starts in low A this year with 35 strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched. Whether he will amount to anything at some point remains to be seen, but Myers now finds himself in a loaded farm system whereas Baltimore was not quite as deep.
So far, this trade is a huge win for the Orioles, and it could be for your fantasy teams as well. He is worth adding at least until he cools down. J.J. Hardy is still at least two weeks away, so enjoy the production from Beckham while it lasts!
