On Thursday morning, Minnesota revealed two new Timberwolves jerseys crafted by Nike under the NBA’s new apparel partnership.

The first Nike uniforms shared by the Minnesota Timberwolves showcase the team’s take on two designs, “Association” and “Icon,” being used league-wide in place of the “Home” and “Away” designations.

The Association tops feature the team’s primary colors, midnight navy and lake blue, in addition to the traditional white mandated by the league to be the base color on the Association style for every team. The Association jerseys are absent any aurora green, which is the team’s third accent color and which appears prominently on their new logo.

However, the Icon look makes more varied use of color, featuring white as an accent for the lake blue and midnight navy base. The aurora green caps the whole look off with a stripe vertically down the leg of the bottoms. The numbers and lettering on the Icon jerseys are white as well, which pops well out of the dark blue tones.

Both of the jerseys released today, as well as the two still to be released, will feature the logo of Fitbit, the popular smartband company. Fitbit headquarters are in San Francisco, which makes this partnership a departure from the local focus of other NBA jersey ad ventures. However, the colors of the Fitbit logo in this case match quite nicely with the rest of the Wolves’ palette. The Fitbit logo and the Nike Swoosh sit within the top stripe of both uniforms, just above the team name.

The jerseys are stylistically different than most of the Adidas designs and even from the other Nike releases, they do stand out. The Wolves are looking to make an impression this season, using their logo re-brand and #NewEra to bring attention toward a team that now features Jeff Teague and Jimmy Butler in addition to the talented young core already in place.
