Twins Eddie Rosario: Ride the momentum until the end of the season
By Bill Pivetz
Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario is having the best season of his short career. With the power and contact he’s providing, add him until he slows down.
The Minnesota Twins are sitting in second place in the American League Central, but have a 59-57 record. The team as a whole hasn’t been a great success. Though, alongside Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario is heating up at the plate and is worth an add to end the season.
Rosario has shown more power as of late. In 788 combined at-bats in 2015 and 2016, he hit 23 home runs and 82 RBI with a .268 average. The power was there but he wasn’t making great contact and striking out a lot.
However, this year seems to be completely different. In 368 at-bats, he has just 75 strikeouts with 24 walks and a .337 on-base percentage. As far as the counting stats, Rosario has 16 home runs, 46 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He isn’t much of a speed guy, just five steals in 11 attempts.

Looking at the splits, he looks to be improving at the plate in the second half. While the sample size is a little small, only 93 at-bats, you can tell a lot by the peripherals.
In the first half, Rosario hit .287 with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 37 runs scored. In the second half so far, he has a .323/.369/.634 line with six homers, 20 RBIs and 16 runs. He also looks more patient with a 19:8 K:BB ratio.
His line drive rate stayed the same while his ground ball and fly ball rates have gone in the direction you want them to go.
In the first half, he had a 47.5 ground ball and 32.7 fly ball rate. He has a 34.2 ground ball and 46.1 fly ball rate so far in the second half.
Rosario is hitting the ball a bit harder, 28.3 to 39.5 percent, while keeping his soft hit rate the same.
All of these numbers prove that Rosario made some great adjustments in the second half. He is seeing the ball better and making good contact. With 26 games remaining for the Twins and a couple of weeks left for the fantasy baseball regular season, Rosario is a good player to add.

Rosario has been added in 21.4 percent of ESPN leagues over the last week. He’s hit five home runs and 10 RBI in his last eight games. I was able to add him in my league and you should too.
